Displaced People in Action Board Member (Director)

Displaced People In Action(DPIA) is recruiting two Board Members. Asylum seekers and refugees are encouraged to apply. In this round, we are particularly interested in recruiting two Board members who are enthusiastic about making a meaningful difference to the lives of asylum seekers and refugees as well as communicating our objectives and the needs of our service users at the highest levels. Additionally, we would welcome those with fundraising and entrepreneurial experience to diversify our income to strengthen our charity’s financial position.

Those selected for this position will be required to undergo a Basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and to complete the Safeguarding Level-2 Online Training.

Integration and Participation Officer

Shaping My Future (SMF)

Salary: £28,000 per year (plus 8% pension contribution)

Contract: Fixed-term contract for 12 Months

Displaced People in Action (DPIA) offers a range of services to refugees and asylum seekers settled in Wales including those that facilitate the development of confidence, self-sufficiency, education, and employment through advice, guidance, and practical support.

We are looking for an Integration and Participation Officer with experience of community integration, good networking and excellent presentation skills to achieve Shaping My Future (SMF) project activities.

  • Deliver community integration and health literacy information sessions to asylum seekers and newly qualified refugees to improve their knowledge and ability to integrate Welsh culture and access public services.
  • Support asylum seekers and refugees who are currently engaged in our services to feel confident in reporting hate crime incidents.
  • Increase awareness of hate crime as part of regular cultural orientation and integration workshops.
  • Organise wellbeing and personal development sessions and encourage asylum seekers and refugees to participate in community based learning opportunities including signposting to digital literacy courses.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
