Projects that create real change
Our projects help displaced people rebuild their lives, access their rights, and feel part of the communities they live in. Explore the work below to see what we’re delivering right now, who it’s for, and the difference it’s making.
Projects
WARD
The Wales Refugee and Asylum Seeker Doctors (WARD) Programme assists doctors living in Wales who are refugees or asylum seekers to gain GMC registration and restart their career within the UK NHS. We are also able to support dentists to pass their IELTS examination.
Play, Learn & Thrive
The Play, Learn and Thrive Project (PLTP) is a one‑year programme funded by the Moondance Foundation and The Swire Charitable Trust. The project delivers a weekly schedule of groups, classes, and activities for refugee and asylum‑seeking children and young people aged under 18.
Shaping My Future
The Shaping My Future project supports asylum seekers and refugees aged 18 and over to feel more integrated within their communities. The project aims to empower participants to build confident, connected, and fulfilling futures in Wales.
Awareness Training
DPIA runs Awareness Training sessions designed to help members of the public understand the UK asylum system, what refugee status and asylum mean, and how communities can welcome and support sanctuary seekers in Wales.
Resettlement
DPIA supports refugee integration and long‑term resettlement through several UK Government‑initiated programmes, including the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP) and Homes for Ukraine, which help individuals and families fleeing conflict and instability to rebuild their lives in the UK.
Advocacy Forum
The Refugee & Asylum Seeker Advocacy Forum provides a platform for refugees and people seeking asylum in Wales to share their experiences and raise their voices on the issues that directly affect them.
